Est Pizzeria Adelaide – Review

Last night marked a momentous occasion, as a bunch of my girlfriends and I celebrated the pending nuptials of our dear friend Jo with a hens day/night. The day started with a session in nature drawing (code for gratuitous perve at a naked man), then we went on an impromptu 1.2km (0.7mi) pub crawl down to Est Pizzeria, for dinner. I’ve never been to Est Pizzeria before, but I’ve heard good things about the place and I was excited about having pizza for dinner after working up an appetite during the nature drawing session.  This place is tiny, so if you want to dine in, be prepared to wait for a table if it’s busy. We were told that we had the upstairs room booked and we had to walk THROUGH the kitchen to get upstairs.  The kitchen is basically an open area, which you can clearly see from the inside dining area, with a couple of work benches and a wood fire pizza oven. So, our group had to shimmy our way through the kitchen, past all the staff to get to our destination.  Mind you, the staff were absolutely wonderful and were very accommodating with all of our requests, including me asking them to pose for some action shots for my blog and the bride-to-be asking for volunteers to help her complete her hen’s challenges from a few games we were playing.  What about the pizza, I hear you ask?  Well, the pizza was AMAZING! The base was thin without being skimpy, and the toppings were generous without being over-crowded.  The combination of flavours were wonderfully tasty and far from boring, with options such as the prawn pizza with provolone, black truffle (Oh. My. God.), prawn, and rocket. And I’m sure cooking in a wood fire oven just enhances the overall deliciousness of the pizzas.

What’s the score?
Food – 4/5
Ambience – 4/5
Service – 5/5
Value – 3.5/5
Total – 4.1/5

I am so impressed by the food and service that I’m definitely coming back for seconds. Est Pizzeria don’t just do pizza either, with a couple of non-pizza dishes (braised lamb shanks and gnocchi). They also do take-away but I think I would prefer to soak up the ambience by dining in. Get on it people!!!!!
