These are a few of my favourite things – Gusto Ristorante

As my partner and I were driving home from having dinner at a restaurant, I thought to myself that there are so many things that I consider as ‘my favourite’.  I have favourite foods, favourite places to eat, favourite items of clothing. Any category of ‘thing’ you can think of, I probably can name a “favourite”. So, why not start sharing what I consider my favourite things? If it’s good enough for Julie Andrews, it’s good enough for me *insert Sound of Music reference here*. A couple of days ago, my partner and I decided that it was about time we ventured out for dinner rather than cook something at home because it had been a while since we had eaten out. We decided to visit one of our favourite restaurants in Adelaide, Gusto Ristorante, located in the eastern suburb of Norwood. My partner introduced me to this restaurant when we first started seeing each other many years ago, and I’ve been hooked ever since. Gusto Ristorante’s menu could be considered as modern Italian with special dishes every week featuring whatever is in season. I love this place because there is no such thing as portion control; the servings are HUGE! When the waiter came to take our order, I decided to order the fish special which was an oven roasted pink snapper fillet served with a warm salad of potatoes, cherry tomatoes, spanish onion and asparagus. The salad was dressed with white balsamic vinegar and olive oil. My partner ordered my favourite pasta dish, the Frutti di Mare, which comprised of spaghetti, prawns, calamari, black lip mussels, fish, cockles, blue swimmer crab meat tossed through fresh tomato, parsley garlic and chilli. The service, as always, was really lovely with the waiter quite personable and attentive. I was so incredibly full, that I indicated to my partner that there was no chance I could fit in dessert before heading home.

Entrees and starters are priced in the mid to high teens, with mains ranging from low twenties to low thirties. Weekends are incredibly busy so bookings are a must, but if you drop by earlyish on a weekday, it’s unlikely you’ll need to book ahead.

It’s on a entirely different topic but it has pretty much the same layout and design. Superb choice of colors!
